Isabelle Alford Lago

Isabelle Alford-Lago paints a fuzzy gorilla in her studio. YAY! Isabelle is known for her murals of gorillas around Venice Beach, CA. You can see several of them on Abbot Kinney Blvd. I went to her studio to shoot this painting of her painting.

In this video Isabelle uses a variety of brushes and oil pigments to apply fuzzy hair to one of her gorillas. She uses a linseed mixture to thin the paint out, which allows her to "tickle" the paint on the canvass into the shape of detailed hairs. 
 

I remember having a lot of fun picking through my music collection to choose songs that used the words monkey or gorilla in them.
